Abstract Premarital health care (PMC) is considered as a main part of reproductive health services. It is a worldwide primary preventive approach for prospective couples, aiming to prevent sexually-transmitted diseases (STD) within a couple; to detect reproductive problems or hereditary illness which may pass to offspring and to provide counseling on family planning, reproductive health issues and genetic health. This study was conducted to assess the premarital care services in primary health care settings in Alexandria and assess the consumers’ satisfaction with the premarital care services provided in those primary health care settings. A descriptive cross sectional research design was used to conduct this study. It had been carried out in eight primary health care settings affiliated to the ministry of health and population (MOHP) in Alexandria. El-Montaza, East, West, Middle, El-Gomrouk, El-Amrya, Borg El-Arab, and El-Agamy The present study subjects included: • Total of 58 health care providers (physicians and nurses) who are involved in premarital care services in the previously mentioned settings. Tools of study Four tools were used in this study (Assessment of Premarital Care services in Primary Health Care Settings in Alexandria). 1st tool: Health care provider’s assessment questionnaire It composes two parts: basic data of the participants and health care providers’ awareness / opinions of premarital care services. 2nd tool: Premarital Care Observation Checklist. 3rd tool: The Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire Short Form (PSQ-18). 4th tool: Primary Health Care Setting Assessment Checklist. |
