Abstract

The main aim of this study is to examine Edgar Lee masters’s delineation of the Midwestern small town with its daily preoccupations and characters. Special emphasis is laid on the poet’s exposure of the facets of corruption as manifested in the small town life and character, contrary to what was believed that the small town is a haven for innocence and chastity.Furthermore, this study also examines how accurate and close to reality the image depicted by masters was. Finally, the study reveals some techniques employed by masters to serve the drawing of the small town image
