Abstract
Our study was aiming to detect role of urinary hepcidin level in early diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia in children.
It included 57 anemic child (groupI) and 25 control ones (groupII),history taking and complete clinical examination were done for the two groups in additional to Hb level, MCV, MCHC, MCH, Ht(%) value , serum iron,ferittin and TIBC and urinary hepcidin levels were done
Our results showed that there were no significant differences between group I and group II regarding age and sex .
here were significant differences between group I and group II regarding hemoglobin level ,Ht % value , MCH ,MCHC ,MCV ,serum iron , serum ferittin ,TIBC and urinary hepcidin -25 level , they were in group I lower than in group II with highly significant diference between the two groups, while regarding serum creatinin and urea there was no significant differences between the two groups.
ccording the correlation between urinary hepcidin and the other parameters there was positive correlation between urinary hepcidin and MCH , serum ferritin and TIBC while there was no correlation between the other parameters and urinary hepcidin level.
