Abstract The postpartum period begins after the delivery of the baby and ends when the mother’s body has returned as closely as possible to its pre-pregnant state. This period usually lasts six to eight weeks. Postnatal care is one of the most important maternal health-care services for not only prevention of impairment and disabilities but also reduction of maternal mortality. The importance of postnatal care services has been reported in various studies worldwide. Postnatal care services enable health professionals to identify post-delivery problems, including postnatal complications, and to provide treatment promptly. Therefore, this study was carried out to assess women’s utilization of postnatal care services in Elbehera Governorate. The study was carried out at 10 health centers in Albehera Governorate. Data was collected from 400 postpartum women - attended the study settings for immunization of their children in their first six month of life, aged between 18-45 years old constituted the study sample. Three tools were used to collect the necessary data. Women’s socio-demographic characteristics and reproductive history interview schedule, Women’s utilization of postnatal care services structured interview schedule and the Modified Arabic version of Echelle de Qualité des Soins en Hospitalization EQS-H questionnaire. |
