Abstract Background: Diabetes is the most common endocrinal disorder seen in clinical practice. The effects of diabetes mellitus include long– term damage, dysfunction and failure of various organs. The goal of the present study was to investigate the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus on thyroid hormones, testosterone and C-peptide hormones in diabetic patients. Methods: A comparative study of effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus on levels of thyroid hormones, total testosterone and C-peptide in two groups healthy persons and diabetic persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Results: The present study revealed that, the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus in diabetic patients exhibited a highly significant decrease in serum total T3 hormone, total T4 hormone and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH ) levels as compared to control subjects. In addition, the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus in diabetic patients exhibited a highly significant decrease in serum total testosterone hormone level when compared to control subjects, which exerted a highly significant decrease in serum C-peptide hormone level in comparison to control subjects, and all that companied with significant increase in serum fasting blood sugar level. In conclusion, type 2 diabetes mellitus affect on thyroid hormones, testosterone and Cpeptide hormones levels in diabetic patients.
