Abstract

The present study was carried out to study the effect of cefquinome and spiramycin on rats during treatment of experimentally induced pneumonia in. Moreover, their effects on some hematological, biochemical parameters. In addition, histopathological examination of tissue specimens from lung, liver and kidney will be performed. Sixty rats of either sex (200 gram B.wt) were used (1) Non infected treated with saline (1ml/rat) intraperitonealy (control). (2)Experimentally infected with 1ml of Bacterial suspension. (3) Infected and treated in which rats were experimentally infected similarly, and then 48 hour after bacterial inoculation, rats were injected intramuscularly with cefquinome (50 mg /kg body weight) once daily for five (5) successive days. (4)Infected and treated in which rats were experimentally infected similarly, and 48 hour post bacterial inoculation, rats were orally administered with spiramycin (25mg /kg body weight) twice per day for five (5) successive days. (5)Treated with Cefquinome in which rats were injected intramuscularly with cefquinome (50mg/ kg body weight) daily for five (5) successive days. (6)Treated with Spiramycin in which rats were administered orally with spiramycin (25mg/ kg body weight) twice daily for five (5) successive days. The infected non treated group showed a significant increase in total leukocytic count, lymphocytic and eosinophilic count after one day of infection. The treated groups with cefquinome and spiramycin show a significant decrease in total and differential leukocytic count, total erythrocytic count and platelet count. A significant increase in serum level of urea and creatinine after one day, one week and two weeks of infection, also changes recorded in serum level of ALT and AST after two weeks of infection compared with that for control one. Meanwhile the treated group with cefquinome and spiramycin showed a significant increase in the levels of serum ALT and AST after one and two weeks of treatment. A significant increase in serum urea and creatinine after one day, one week from cefquinome administration, and A significant decrease in serum urea and creatinine after spiramycin administration compared to the control group. Microscopic examination of the group of lung, liver and kidney of rats that induced experimentally with Klebsiella pneumonae revealed degenerative changes in these organs specially the lung .In addition, after cefquinome and spiramycinadministration the histopathological picture improved toward the normal picture.
