Abstract
Resistant infective corneal ulcer is an ocular emergency which needs an early and aggressive management to avoid its serious complications. Despite the availability of a wide range of newer antimicrobials, new diagnostic techniquesand recent treatment modalities, infective keratitis continues to pose a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. A new technique with the use of argon laser irradiation of refractory infective keratitis has proved beneficial in the treatment of these particular corneal ulcers as an adjunctive treatment. This study was carried out on fifty eyes of fifty patients with corneal ulcers attending the outpatient clinic of Ophthalmology Department of Tanta University Hospital during the period from June2014 to June2015. After complete history taking, comprehensive ophthalmological examination and laboratory work up, the selected patients were divided into two groups, control group and argon laser treated group. Each group includes 25 patients of resistant infective corneal ulcers as proved clinically and with culture and sensitivity tests.
