Abstract Study the effect of NPK fertilizer levels and foliar spray with some micronutrients as pre-harvest treatments on growth and dry yield quality of cowpea crop cv. Kafer El-Sheikh 1 as well as to investigate the effect of some pos-tharvest treatments such as peppermint oil, heating and chemical methods to overcome C. maculatus insect as suitable methods to improve the storability of dry cowpeas seeds during the storage periods. Methods & Results : The present study was conduct at the special Farm, kafr sad, Damietta, Egypt during two successive seasons of 2014 / 2015 and 2015 / 2016, respectively. Study the effect of five treatments of NPK fertilizers and foliar sprayed with microelements mixture (Fe, Zn and B) at rate 3g/l Thereafter, the obtained dry cowpea seeds crop were treated with some storage treatments(heating , peppermint oil. Phostoxin to prolong the shelf life of this dry yield after harvest date of each season Conclusion : It could be concluded that:1- pre-harvest treatments: fertilizers cowpea with 100% NPK of RDF (40 kg Nitrogen + 30 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O/fed) and spraying with microelements mixture (6 % iron, 5 % zinc and 1.5 % boron) of rate 3g/l gave rise to higher dry seed yield and good quality. Post-harvest treatments: fertilizers cowpea with 100% NPK of RDF (40 kg Nitrogen + 30 kg P2O5 + 30 kg K2O/fed) and spraying with microelements mixture (6 % iron, 5 % zinc and 1.5 % boron) of rate 3g/l. before storage and treated with microwave at 400-600 w for 20 : 40 sec or treated with peppermint oil at rate 1 cm3/300 cm3 acetone keep cowpea dry seeds off the infestation with weevil for 3 months under the condition of Kafr sad, Damietta, Egypt. |
