Abstract
The present study aims to evaluate the contamination level of River
Nile (Rosetta branch) at Kafr El-Zayat industrial area. Many water
parameters were estimated (electrical conductivity, pH, dissolved
oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, ammonia, nitrate and heavy metals).
Also the microbial contamination was assessed for evaluating the
relationship between the spread of fungal populations in this main
water resource and the incidence of different eye infectious diseases
among patients inhabiting the surrounding area. Extracts of ornamental
plants and street trees would be explored as a source of antifungal
compounds in a trial to offer a cheap and effective treatment for widely
spread fungal infections along the River Nile.
