Abstract Cardiac rehabilitation is a combination of exercise training and nutritional and psychological counseling aimed at improving the health status of patients with CVD. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of exercise training in acute coronary syndrome patients. The study included 50 patients post ACS who were divided into 2 groups, group A (25 patients who enrolled in the CR program) and group B (Control group). All patients underwent intensive patient education about the nature of CAD, risk factor management, alarming symptoms of myocardial infarction, adherence to medication, the return to physical activities and work resumption. The patients also received education about the proper control of the risk factors, the necessity to quit smoking, nutrition education and weight management. |
