Abstract

Role of Zn in the animal system is well realized and documented. But Zn from conventional sources is less available to the body and thus mostly excreted to the environment causing environmental pollution. Nano ZnO, as a substitute to the conventional Zn sources, can be a good alternative in livestock feeding. Apart from being highly bioavailable, reports have pointed out the growth promoting, antibacterial, immuno-modulatory and many other beneficial effects of nZn. So, thorough and systematic study is produced for elucidating toxic effects, in any, dose fixation and also for economic production procedures to take nZn journey to logical conclusions.
This work is planned to investigate the effect of different dietary levels of zinc oxide nanoparticles as antioxidant and growth promoter on broiler chickens
Experimental design:
One hundred of one day old broiler chicks were used and divided equally into four groups each of 25 chicks as follow; basal diet supplemented group (1), zinc oxide nanoparticles (60 mg/kg ration for 42 days) supplemented group (2), zinc oxide nanoparticles (90 mg/kg ration for 42 days) supplemented group (3) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (120 mg/kg ration for 42 days) supplemented group (4).
Each week from starting the experiment till the sixth week, the body weight, body weight gain, feed intake and feed.
