Abstract
In this chapter, a face identification system based on CIE-Luv color
space, facial feature extraction and variance estimation is proposed. It can
be applied in face recognition systems such as video surveillance, human
computer interfaces, image database management and smart home
applications. The proposed system consists of three steps, first step is
skin-like regions detection depending on CIE-Luv color space, the second
step is face detection method based on skin like regions and geometrical
properties of face shape
