Abstract Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Cr(III), Zn(II), Cd(III), Fe(II) and Mn(II) complexes of (2Z,2’E)-2,2’-((4,6-dihydroxy-1,3-phenylene)bis(ethan-1- yl-1-ylidene))bis(hydrazinecarbothioamide) have been prepared and characterized by element analysis, IR, UV-Vis spectra, magnetic moment, conductances, 1H-NMR spectra and mass spectra, Thermal analyse (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurments. The analytical and IR data show that, the ligand behaves as neutral bidentate or dibasic tetradentate. Molar conductances in DMF indicate that, the complexes are non-electrolytes. ESRspectra of solid Cu(II) complexes at room temperature show axial type (dx2-y2 ) with covalent bond character in an octadedral environment. Some complexes showed inhibitory activity agtainst hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG-2 cell line) compared with a standard drug (sorafenib). |
