Abstract

• Background: TFCC was regarded as the black box of the wrist, unitil Palmer 1 classified the lesions comprehensively and Nakamura2 made his extensive histological studies.
• Purpose: To evaluate the functional and clinical outcomes of Arthroscopic Management of Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) injuries

• Methodology: the study population is composed of 32 patients who completed the whole follow up program. There were 21 males and 11 females; their mean age was 26.7 years (range, 16 to 47 years). The average follow up duration was 18.5 months (range, 12 to 25 months). For clinical evaluation, Visual analogue score (VAS), grip strength, flexion extension range, and modified Mayo wrist score (MMWS) were used.
• Results: By comparing preoperative to postoperative values, significant improvements were recorded as Visual analogue score (VAS), grip strength, flexion extension range, and modified Mayo wrist score (MMWS) P< 0.001.
• Conclusion: Arthroscopic management of Palmer type 1 TFCC tears in the form of repair of type 1B and 1C and debridement for type 1A and 1D, showed significant clinical improvement
• Level of evidence: IV
