Abstract
This study is conducted on four groups of substance use disorder patients from the addiction clinic Banha mental health hospital -Egypt
group (I): forty males (18-40 years old) substance use disorder patients using cannabis substance.
group (II): forty males (18-41 years old) substance use disorder patients using heroin substance.
group (III): forty males (18-36 years old) substance use disorder patients using tramadol substance.
group (IV): forty males (22-45 years old) substance use disorder patients using polysubstance.
Each of the studied groups were subjected to full general medical history taking and examination, psychiatric examination according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM V) criteria to detect any psychiatric abnormalities, Arabic version of Suicide scale, Addiction severity index, Fahmy and El-Sherbini scale for social classification, routine laboratory investigations and urine drug screening for all types of psychoactive substances. In our study, there is highly statistically significant positive correlation between ASI degrees and Total Suicide degree and also there is statistically significant positive correlation between Suicide score and duration of drug use. In our study, it has proven that the ASI degree and the marital status were statistically significant positive predictor of suicide degree.
In our study, we found that tramadol group has a suicide score higher than heroin and cannabis groups.
We suggested that it important to use suicide scale during assessment of patients of tramadol addiction.
We suggested taking in consideration using ASI and suicide scale during assessment and management of those patients of substance use disorder.
