Abstract Cochlear implants are electronic devices that enable the auditory rehabilitation and the management of individuals with severe to profound bilateral hearing loss.31 The round window is considered as an anatomical landmark in cochlear implantation surgery therefor knowing of variations in its morphological appearance and its anatomical relationships to adjacent structures are mandatory for successful surgery.40 The aim of the present work was to detect morphometric anatomical variations of the adult round window and its relation to adjacent structures. The study was conducted on twenty human temporal bones (obtained from the department of Human Anatomy and Embryology, Alexandria Faculty of Medicine). The dissected bones was photographed with a millimeter scale using a digital camera then the photographs was imported to a computer, and measurements was done by using a graphic software. |
