Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of lactic acid pH 4 in human enamel demineralization, and evaluate effect of GC MI paste plus to enamel remineralization after demineralization by lactic acid. Sixty specimens of human teeth were prepared for this investigation. They were divided into two main groups, 30 each; according to the method of analysis testing (surface roughness, microhardness). Each group was analyzed as an untreated group then treated by demineralizing solution (lactic acid), we did roughness and hardness analysis again, and the final treatment we used the mineralizing agent which divided to two subgroups according to the time of application, five minutes and seven minutes. Further final analysis testing roughness and hardness did again. Results revealed that the tested specimens showed severe surface erosion when immersed in lactic acid at pH4. The mineralizing agent was capable to remineralize the demineralized enamel. Conclusions: Under the limitations of this study, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Dramatic effect of lactic acid pH 4 on surface roughness and hardness potentiality was clear. 2. Remineralizing agent GC MI paste plus seems to be effective on remineralization potentiality. 3. The power of remineralizing agent as a direct effect on the hardness number of the enamel hardness. 4. The time factor seems to be effective on the hardness potentiality and surface roughness. |
