The future of investigative journalism in Egypt over the next
decade in period from 2015 to 2025 Prospective study is seeking to
achieve three objectives:
1. Indeed analysis for detecting challenge facing investigative
journalism in Egypt.
2. Experts uncover perceptions of future scenarios.
3. Develop a strategic plan to help the growth and prosperity of
investigative journalism.
The study relied on: systems analysis, S.W.A.T analysis and tree
plan
Study approach: Media survey method.
The study population: selected sample of academics and
journalists Experts
Results:
SWOT analysis:
A. Strengths:
1. Egyptian newspapers have investigative journalism units.
2. Egypt has journalists trained on the investigative journalism.
3. The investigative journalism has support.
4. Investigative journalism has international interest.
B. Weaknesses:
1. Egypt does not apply the Freedom of Information Act
2. There is no adequate funding for complete investigations.
3. Egypt does not have enough experience in investigative
journalism
4. Egypt does not have investigative journalism trainers
C. Opportunities:
1. Apply the Freedom of Information Act.
2. Teach investigative journalism at universities.
3. Build investigative journalism units in national and party
newspapers.
