Abstract Multiple imaging modalities are used for assessment and management of adrenal masses. MRI is playing an important role in diagnosis and characterization of adrerenal masses. Refinements in techniques of MRI continue to improve image quality and detectability of adrenal masses. Conventional MR images potential advantages in preoperative evaluation is providing accurate data regarding their positions, local infiltrations, venous involvement, regional lymph nodes and distant metastases. Magnetic resonance diffusion imaging of the adrenals (MR DWI) is a noninvasive technique for the assessment and characterization of different adrenal masses. The proton MR imaging spectroscopy has been proposed as a complementary methodology for the study of adrenal gland. MRS can be used to distinguish between various adrenal lesions as it gives rise to different spectral findings for adenomas, metastases, pheochromocytomas and carcinomas. |
