Summary
Introduction:
This study was conducted to discover the relationship between happiness and willpower in the Egyptian society, specify the elements and mechanisms that can increase happiness, find the ways of strengthening willpower as a tool of increasing happiness, understand the relationship between quality of life and both happiness and willpower, and understand the relationship between personality traits and both happiness and willpower. Moreover, this study is meant to be a step forward in the field of positive psychology.
People always want to feel happy, and avoid negative feelings. Positive feelings help with facing difficulties and bearing pain. These feelings make the person keen to take safety precautions in the time of danger, and they reverse the effect of negative feelings. Psychological research has always cared about negative feelings; it did not concentrate a lot on positive feeling and their function; however, they form an important indicator to what happens in the person’s life.
Increasing happiness needs lots of work using willpower, and reaching goals is accompanied by happiness. This process increases self-confidence and improves psychological health.
The relationship between happiness and volition deserves to be well-studied as it is very beneficial to individuals and it can make them more productive. Further, the whole society can benefit from it.
Importance of this study:

It summarizes the important findings about willpower. It discovers the mechanisms that Egyptians use to overcome their everyday difficulties to find happiness.
Second: practical importance:
The level of happiness declined in the Egyptian society as a result of the economic and social circumstances that we go through now. All of us can feel this fact, and it is also mentioned in the UN report that was conducted in 2013. It showed that Egypt is the most country that had a decrease in the level of happiness since 2005. Therefore, I try to participate in improving the level of happiness in our society by declaring the activities that can help with that.
I am summarizing in my thesis the factors that can improve also willpower, which can help whoever want to be more successful.
The current study also explains some of the negative feelings that accompany failure in accomplishing goals.
