Abstract Aim of work:The aim of the study is to evaluate prognostic factors for short term visual and anatomical out come following intravitreal ranibizumab injection in active age related macular degeneration .Results:The study included 43 consecutive eyes of 43 AMD patients who had active subfoveal or juxtafoveal CNV secondary to wet AMD. By the end of the study it was found that all included patients gained both functional and anatomical improvement after three consecutive monthly IVR (loading dose). Poorer base line BCVA and larger OCT parameters associated with good response (functional and anatomical) while HTN, IHD and cerebral stroke associated with poor response. Age ,gender ,lens state , side of affected eye and lesion location and fluid Central foveal thickness, total retinal volume, systemic HTN, IHD and cerebral strock could be considered as predictors for functional response. Coclusion: Patient age, total retinal volume, HTN and cerebral strok were the predictors for anatomical response.morphology on OCT had statistically non significant correlations with BCVA and CFT. |
