Abstract expression of laminin-1 in three cases of RCs was lost as a result of severe inflammation in the connective tissue wall which may be due to degradation of the basement membrane components by inflammatory mediators. The immunoexpression of laminin-1 was lost in most cases of keratocystic odontogenic tumors which may be related to the aggressive behavior of this lesion. Radicular cysts showed a less proliferation index when compared with keratocystic odontogenic tumors. Severely inflamed radicular cysts showed a higher proliferation index than radicular cysts with mild inflammation in the connective tissue wall. Keratocystic odontogenic tumors showed a higher proliferation index than RCs. |
