Abstract

The Study aims to:1Assess the incidence of undiagnosed intrauterine pathology based on screening hysteroscopy in women with normal hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and/or transvaginal ultrasonograghy (TVS).2-Impact of hysteroscopy on the success rate of ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection).A-Impact of treatment of hysteroscopic findings.B- Impact of scratching. The study is a prospective cohort study. That was conducted in the Fertility care Unit of Mansoura University Hospital. Between April 2014 to April 2015.100 Women with an indication for ICSI were divided into two groups 50 patient each. group (1) we did hysteroscopy before ICSI. group (2) we did ICSI without hysteroscopy. We got an informed consent for the study from participating patients. In group A, 70% had normal hysteroscopy study; and 30% had abnormal hysteroscopic findings. The commonest finding was endometrial polyp 16% followed by polypoidal endometrium 12%. Other findings include incomplete septum 2%. There was a significant difference in the pregnancy rate between the two groups P value (0.005). The pregnancy rate on group A was 56% compared to 28% in group B..from the study we found that treatment of hystroscopic findings improves the pregnancy rate.Scratching the endometrium in normal hysteroscopy improves the pregnancy rate(42.9%) when compared to the control group (28%).
