Abstract This study aims to study the effect of leadership style of head nurses on staff nurses job performance. A descriptive co-relational research design was utilized with a sample of \ \. of staff nurses who were working in Mansoura Emergency Hospital. Two tools were used to collect the data. The first tool was the leadership questionnaire geared to measure leadership style, The second tool was nurses performance evaluation checklist. Results revealed that, most of the head nurses in studied hospital were adopted either lassiez fair or autocratic leadership style. Job performance level of nurses was relatively low. Also, revealed that nursing experience at the current nurses department correlate positively with their job performance level. In conclusion, there is a positive relation between autocratic leadership style of head nurses and staff nurses job performance. Therefore, it is recommended that, improve work environment, develop training programs for nurses to improve their performance. In addition to, Training program about job description and appropriate hospital behavior and soft skills needed. |
