Abstract Aim: This study was aimed to examine the influence of thickness soft lining resilient Molloplast-B bar framework as related to retentive force for mandibular implant overdenture at (1, 2, and 3mm), thickness, with different bar cross-sections (round- oval & Hader). Material and methods: This in vitro study was carried out on educational with square shaped edentulous ridge mandibular model. According to the bar cross section and thickness of soft liner around the bar, the models were divided into the test groups as follow: group A model with Round bar connecting both implants retaining overdenture with 1mm, 2 mm, or 3mm thickness of resilient Molloplast-B bar frame work. group B; a model with Hader bar connecting both implants retaining overdenture with 1mm, 2 mm, or 3mm thickness of resilient Molloplast-B bar frame work. group C: model with oval bar connecting both implants retaining overdenture with1mm, 2 mm, or 3mm thickness of resilient Molloplast-B bar frame work, they connected to installed implants at canine region. Acrylic resin complete mandibular overdentures were constructed. The retention was measured by the use of digital forcemeter data was collected and statistically analyzed. Result: This study revealed that the highest retentive force was observed with oval bar at 3 mm thickness compared to Hader and round bars design with different resilient Molloplast B thickness. Conclusion: Molloplast-B resilient bar framework retention provided by oval 3mm thickness and bar cross section design more retentive than 1, 2mm thickness for Hader , round bar. Also; Retention provided by resilient Molloplast B still dependent on bar cross section as it increases with oval bar by engage more infra bulge under cut. |
