Abstract

Urban forensic entomology typically concerns pests infestation in buildings, gardens or that may be the basis of litigation between private parties and service providers such as landlords or exterminators (Catts and Goff, 1992). Other litigation under the ”urban” rubric is not as easily foreseen by the uninitiated. Patient in hospitals and nursing homes occasionally suffer myiasis and this usually results in actions claiming neglect (Sherman et al., 2005). Negligence actions against mortuaries may result from maggot-infested corpses (Benecke et al., 2004.
