Abstract

Thalassemia is recognized as the most prevalent hereditary disorder all over the world with a significant negative impact on public health and the society specially endemic areas. The most prevalent hemoglobinopathy in Egypt is β- thalassemia major (BTM) which is a hereditary genetic anemia of hemolytic type. It is considered in our region a problematic health issue. Anemia may present with pallor, growth retardation and irritability which usually occurs during the first two years of life, later on skeletal and other skeletal manifestations are presented. It is essential to adequately manage the thalassemic children so that such patients will not pass into these complications. This control will depend on proper diagnosis and treatment. Speckle Tracking Echocardiography (STE) is an echocardiographic imaging technique that analyzes the motion of tissues in the heart by using ultrasonic sound waves to generate interference patterns and natural acoustic reflections.
