Abstract Infertility is a major health problem and unique medical challenge that can have health behavioral consequence on infertile women including lack of selfesteem, depression, anxiety. The infertile women experience difficult in coping with emotional liability during diagnosis and treatment and a sense of fear and failure There is a negative psychological consequence such as sense of loss, feeling of isolation and lowered self-concept and stress This stress could affect the relationship between man and woman and cause marital conflicts, sexual dissatisfaction (Faramarzi et al., 2014). Coping plays as a mediator between the stressor or adversity and the health consequences for an individual; the resultant effects coping have on the physical or psychological outcomes of an individual; the complex and intricate relationship between coping and multiple psychosocial protective factors, such as social support, resilience, positive affect, and subjective well-being; and the clinical implications of enhancing individuals’ adaptive coping behaviors in promoting well-being (Rubio, 2013). Social support can enhance resilience in infertile women. Resilience is an ability to adapt positively in the face of trauma and is associated with mental health by influencing on self-esteem spirituality, stress tolerance and feeling of adequacy. Resilience in infertile couples is a protecting factor against psychological distress and improves their quality of life (Silbe et al., 2010). |
