Abstract Urinary tract infection is considered as common infectious disease detected in clinical practice. This study was conducted on 159 clinical isolates from patients with UTI and their sensitivity to commonly used antibiotics in Al-Azhar university hospital, Asyut, Egypt. E. coli was the most predominant pathogen causing UTI. Other pathogens causing UTI were K. pneumoniae followed by P. mirabilis and P. aeruginosa. Frequent consumption and misuse of antibiotics lead to mutations and the emergence of new genes more aggressive and more resistant to antibiotics, which leads to increased mortality and which calls for the search for new antibiotics. |
