Abstract Asthma is a chronic condition with symptoms of cough, wheezing, chest tightness or pain, and/or difficulty breathing. These symptoms occur periodically, usually related to specific triggering events. Asthma prevalence over past 20 years has been growing. Obesity has been recognized as a risk factor of asthma prevalence and increase of its severity and also affect lung function. . White adipose tissue is an active organ that secretes a large variety of proteins known as adipokines. Adipokines may be proinflammatory (such as leptin and resistin) or anti-inflammatory (such as adiponectin). Effects of these adipokines on the lungs have the potential to evoke or exacerbate asthma . |
