The first and second experiments were conducted at the Experimental Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Domo, El-Fayoum Governorate inl998 season. The third and fourth experiments were conducted at the High . Institute of Agriculture Cooperation Farm, Wadi El-Faregh, Cairo-Alexandria desert road, 62
Kilometers away from Cairo in 1999 and 2000 seasons. Ten soybean genotypes, i;e. Giza 82, Giza 35, Giza 21, Toano, Cutler 71, Holladay, Crawford, Dr-101, S 29 and Giza Ill were used in this study received from . The. Legume Research Department, Field Crops Research Institute ARC, Egypt. With respect to the first season (1998), ten soybean genotypes were used in two separate experiments to study their performance under sandy and saline soil at Domo region conditions. The second and third .seasons, the experiments included twenty treatments which were the combination between ten soybean genotypes and two drip irrigation treatments in sandy soil •at Wadi El-Faregh region, i.e. irrigation for two successive days (two hours/day) then skip the third day and so on from sowing up to harvest (control treatment, water duty =
3500 m /fed) and irrigation for two successive days (two hours/day) then skip the third and fourth days and so on from flowering (45 days after sowing) up to harvest(stressed treatment, water duty= 2600 m3/fed).
