Abstract

Peattie, (1995) stated that the fact that teaching, we have defined it, is deliberate and intentional does not mean that it must be a length or complex task. It does mean that you respond with a conscious action to another people need to learn. It may be that you are responding to a person’s verbal request, a puzzled look, a gesture of delcat, or tears of Ji·ustration. Whatever the cue, you recognize it as an indication of a need to learn, and in response, you consciously try to help the person learn whatever he needs to know. Potter, (1997) added that sometimes, .it may take only a moment or two, but it is a deliberate action on your part, you are teaching. At other times you may need to prepare for days before you attempt to teach and certain person or group. But whether your teaching is spontaneous or planned well in advance, whether it takes two minutes or an hour, whether you ate teaching one person or 75, you are engaged in the deliberate, conscious, intentional process of teaching.
Cooley, (1992) said that during any stage of the disease, the cancer patient is suffering the effect of various actual or actual or· potential losses. These may include of a body part or function, loss of self-image, loss of work or leisure activities, loss offamily or social role, loss or control over one’s life, loss of goals and dreams for the future, and ultimately, loss of life it self. Loss is the predominant factor in all sadness and depression.
Enabling patients and their families to cope with the emotional impact demands effective listening skills and essential component of counseling. (Fu1ler,J994)
