Abstract ABSTRACT The propagation and thehead–on collision of nonlinearDASWs in dustyplasmasconsistingofelectrons, ionsandnegativeaswellaspositive dust are investigated. Applying an extended PoincaréLighthillKuo (PLK) method,Kortwege–deVriesequationsandanalyticalphaseshiftsafterthe headon collision oftwoDASWs industy plasmasare obtained. Analytical andnumericalcalculationsrevealthatthemagnitudeofthephaseshiftof theDASWs is directlydependingon thepositivetonegativedustnumber densityratio, theratiooftheionnumberdensitytonegativedustnumber density, negativetopositivedustparticlemassratioandtheiontoelectron temperatureratio.Thedependenceofthephysicalmodes(compressiveor rarefactive DASWs) and the phase shift on the negativetopositive dust particlemassratiohasbeeninvestigated.Suchstudyillustratedthatthe parameter strongly affects the dynamical behavior (i.e.,compressive or rarefactive)ofDASWsandthemagnitude ofthephase shift.Additionally, the effect of the physical processes (either isothermal or adiabatic) is discussed. It has been found from the numerical analysis that the effects thephysicalprocessesplayanimportantroleonthesolitoncollisions. Moreover, such investigation of DASWs is helpful for understanding the features of solitons in different regions of space, viz. cometary tail, mesosphere,Jupiter’smagnetosphere. |
