المستخلص
The stock exchange is considered the first reflection of the
real investment in Egypt . In the light of the economic reform which Egypt schedules there has
been a great necessity to develop and modernize this stock and to overcome the problems which
faced it before the issue of law No 95 in the year 1992 which was issued for supp01ting the policy
of the economic reform through overcoming the problems of the stock exchange, developing and
activating it by introducing some modernized articles on top of which are the mutual funds. These
funds play an imp01tant role in supporting the different economic policies in the state under
the shade of the economic reform problems . It also realizes several advantages for the individual
investors, the banks and the state . The objectives and the general frame of the thesis :
This thesis aims at showing up the role which the mutual funds play in supporting the economic
reform program through supporting the fiscal and monetary policies liberating the interest rate
and absorption the surplus liquidity from the banks . It also shows up its role in supporting the
privatization program liberating the Egyptian economy, widening the basis of ownership, enlarging
the part played by the private sector in the process of development in Egypt . This is attained
thTough participating in funding the new investments, increasing the internal funding for the
existing projects and also its role in activating and widening the role of the banking, not to
mention its fundamental and direct role in activating the stock exchange, promoting and
flourishing the money market and trying to emit and direct them towards universality to keep pace
with the international changes and an open door policy to the outside world .
Also this thesis aims at benefitting from the countries which
preceded us in this experience especially the countries of the emergmg markets which undetwent the
same economic circumstances of the Egyptian economy .
