Abstract
The thesis is divided into six Chapters:- Chapter I: Introduction. Chapter II: Comparative Biological Study of Roots, Stems, Leaves, and Seeds of Angelica shikokiana Makino. Chapter III: In vitro Neuroprotective Activities of Compounds from Angelica shikokiana Makino. Chapter IV: In vitro Cytotoxic Activities and Molecular Mechanism of Angelica shikokiana Extract and Its isolated compounds. Chapter V: In vivo Hepatoprotective Effects of The Methanol Extract of Angelica shikokiana and Its Major Coumarin: Isoepoxypteryxin, Against Thioacetamide-induced Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Chapter VI: Biotransformation of Isoepoxypteryxin and Improved Biological Activities. This thesis resulted in isolation of various compounds from the aerial part of Angelica shikokiana Makino. addition to biotransformation of certain compounds utilizing available micro-organisms. Besides, evaluation of biological activity of differe extracts and isolated compounds through several assays.
