Abstract
The aim of this study wa to survey school children in tirst area of Cairo brand1 of school heulth
insurance project, for epilepsy and find its prevalence, relation to age, sex and socio-econom ic
status.
Cla sification was performed with special study on benign forms. ’Evaluation of effect of disease
on b ehavior and schoolastic achievement was also a main task of the resea rch.
The study included 348 epileptic patients whose age
ranged between 5 to 20 years with a mean age I I.8 years.
Cases were 119 males and !57 were females.
Prevalence was higher in males and in preparatory
schools age group.
Clinically, the generalized epilepsies were higher than partials, behavi oral .affection and
schoolastk deterioration was much noted in those children.
