Abstract Management of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia can be challenging and confusing the available modalities may be effective although, they may not have the same efficacy in different patients, andsome cases are resistant to treatment Stem cells are population of immature tissue precursor cells capable of self-renewal and proliferation as well as differentiating into a spectrum of different cell types under appropriate condition. It has been claimed that stem-cell therapy led to a significant and visible improvement in follicular hair growth. The use of HFSCs cells as well as BMSCs in the treatment of alopecia has been included in tissue engineering approaches. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of autologous bone marrow stem cells implantation versus that of autologous follicular stem cells in resistant cases of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia. |
