Abstract

Objective:
The objective of the current study was to evaluate the effect of
ultrasonic packing technique, either during composite application using
SonicFill handpiece, or after composite application using Compothixo tool,
on the adaptation of two bulk-fill resin composite materials and a universal
nanohybrid resin composite.
PICO elements:
Problem: Inadequate adaptation of high viscosity resin composite materials
Intervention:
I1: Resin composite placement using SonicFill headpiece that offers
sonically activated delivery of the material
I2: Resin composite placement using Compothixo tool that vibrates during
modeling and condensing the material
Control: Conventional manual placement of resin composite material.
Outcome:
Primary outcome: Adaptation of resin composite materials to cavity walls
and margins.
Secondary outcome: Internal voids in the resin composite materials
Research Question:
Will ultrasonic vibrational placement techniques have an effect on
adaptation and internal voids of resin composite restorations compared to
manual application?
