Abstract Chemotherapy is recommended as an effective mean of controlling schistosomiasis. Referring to the possibility of appearance of drug resistant parasites, specially with re-treatment regimens in endemic areas, search for new schistosomicidals is essential . Chemotherapeutics are sometimes used in combination to obtain a better therapeutic response with smaller doses of each drug and thus we can reduce the likelihood of side effects. In the present work, the effect of combined reduced dose of two oral antibilharzial drugs (praziquantel and Ro 15-5458) on the susceptible and non-susceptible strains of .mansoni infected albino mice was studied . A total number of 600 albino mice were divided into five mam groups . Animals were all infected with 100 S.mansoni cercanae according to susceptibility of parasite to praziquantel (CD susceptible, Sn.1 • So5• MoJ, and EE2 resistant strains) by tail immersion method . Each of these groups will be subjected to the following scheme of treatment. |
