Abstract

A field experiment was carried out on Leucaena leucocephala L. Seeds of the Leucaena leucocephala L. plants collected from Wadi Sudr in South Sinai. Three month old seedling was used. The experiment was conducted in Ras Sudr Research Station, Desert Research Center, at South Sinai governorate during 2013 and 2014 seasons to study the effect of salinity levels of irrigation water, i.e. 4000, 6000 and 8000 ppm, moisture stress as, 25%, 50% and 75% of the available soil water, Kaolin antitranspirant treatments, i.e. 0%, 3%, 6% and 9% and their interactions on some growth characteristics, fresh and dry yields, chemical composition and anatomy of Leucaena leucocephala L. The design of experiment was splitsplit plot with three replications. The important results can be summarized as follows :- A-Effect of water irrigation salinity: 1-Growth characteristics: There was a marked depression in the plant height, leaf area, fresh and dry weights / plant, water use efficiency and transpiration rate of Leucaena leucocephala L. at different dates from transplanting of both seasons with increasing salinity from 4000 to 8000 ppm. Growing plants at high level of salinity (8000 ppm) reduced the growth characters as compared to those irrigated by 4000 ppm.
