Abstract The goal of this study was to detect circulating antigen of the schistosoma parasites in the serum of selected CHC patient and determine a correlation between HCV and schistosomiasis infection in relation to evaluation of HCV-NS4 in CHC patient only and S.mansoni/HCV co-infection. A total of 174 CHC patients showing HCV-NS4 antigen and Schistosoma antigen was detected in 118/174 serum samples by SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting and ELISA technique with detection rate (67.8%) HCV antigen was significantly (p < 0.0001) increased with S.mansoni/HCV co-infection than HCV only .In Conclusion, The activity of transaminase enzymes increase in S.mansoni/HCV coinfection than HCV only and antigen of S.mansoni has a positive correlation with HCV-NS4 antigen. |
