Abstract

The present study aimed to explore the effects of postpartum uterine contamination and postpartum uterine infusion of olive leaves extract on reproductive performance in dairy cows. The study was carried out at two farms, the first one at Menia Elkomh in Sharkia Province and the second at Damietta Province during the period from January 2014 to May 2015. Total number of 44 cows (22 from each farm) aged from 3-5years at puerperium stage.
A total number of 13 cows from them were received intrauterine infusion of 3gm olive leaves extract for 3 successive days starting from the 10th day postpartum.
To explore the effect of postpartum uterine contamination on reproductive performance in dairy cows, the cows which receive OLE were excluded, and then cows were classified according to means of bacterial score into:
Group 1: Standard group (23 cows)
Group 2: High contamination group (8 cows)
To explore the effect of intra uterine infusion of olive leaves extract on reproductive performance in dairy cows, all cows were grouped into:
Group A: Normal non treated group (25 cows):
It had normal parturition and puerperium.
Group B: Normal treated group (7 cows):.
