Abstract

The current study was carried out on 48 samples of bulk tank milk which were obtained from 3 farms in Gharbia Governorate. Samples taken from each farm twice monthly for 4 months in summer season and 4 months in winter season.
Each sample was examined for pH value, somatic cell count and bacteriological examinations which included total bacterial count, total Staphyolococci count, total Streptococci count and total Colifrom count, in summer and winter seasons.
6.1- pH value:
The mean pH values of farms I, II and III were 6.8 ± 0.035, 6.82 ± 0.027 and 6.84 ± 0.02, respectively in winter season while in summer were 6.73 ± 0.016, 6.77 ± 0.039 and 6.81 ± 0.026, respectively the results of pH values showed non-significant variation between summer and winter seasons, because the results were less variable.
6.2- Somatic cell count:
The mean values of SCC for farms I, II and III were 320.000 ± 27.700, 418.300 ± 137.200 and 356.700 ± 91.400, respectively in winter season, and while the respective mean were 239.000 ± 53.400, 262.000 ± 77.000 and 149.000 ± 21.500, in summer season.
These results showed that SCC mean values were higher in winter than in summer.
