Abstract In the present work, the experiments were conducted to investigate the production of cellulase enzyme using rice straw. In Egypt, rice straw is cheap, easily available cellulosic substrate and one of the abundantly available agricultural wastes. This study aimed to isolate several microbial isolates from different six rice straw samples which collected from different localities in El-Gharebia Governorate (Basyion), Kafr EL-Sheikh Governorate (Sakha) and El-Dakahlia Governorate (El-Mansoura) and study the ability of these isolates for production of cellulase enzyme. Seventy microbial isolates were obtained from the collected rice straw samples. These isolates were tested for their cellulolytic activities. Among the seventy isolates, fifty-two were found to have cellulolytic activities. The highest cellulolytic activities were exhibited by three isolates among the fifty two ones. These three isolates were designated as B15, Th8 and F7. The most efficient isolate in producing cellulase enzyme was found to be B15 followed by F7 and then Th8. |
