Abstract
Open reduction is recommended when it is impossible to achieve pretraumatic or adequate occlusion by closed reduction, in case where conservative therapy has failed and an anterior open bite results. Conventional miniplates are linear plates and two plates are required for fixation of fracture but 3D miniplate is geometric configured plate which consists of two horizontal bars interconnected with two vertical bars so single 3D plate stabilizes the fracture both at superior and inferior border, so it is better to use 3D plates on patients who had a fractured mandible at the symphysis and parasymphysis.
