Abstract Alamein Field is located within the concession of Yidma / Alamein development lease that lies in the northern part of the Western Desert of Egypt about 130 Km southwest of Alexandria City, extending between latitudes 30° 24’ and 30° 48’ N and longitudes 28° 36’ and 28° 48’ E. Stratigraphically, Dahab Formation found to be formed of clastic beds in the succession of the northern Western Desert. The sand reservoir is divided into two units; the first is the upper sand unit (Unit I) -which is the major unit and since then it was referred to by the term Dahab Sand- and the second silty and argillaceous one as basal sand unit (Unit II) and it was sedimentologically differentiated from each other as Unit-I has more cleaner sand and it is more homogenous, and also petrophysically different because Unit-I sand is more permeable with better production performance. |
