Abstract

HIPEC is considered a new technique for treatment of PC of cancer colon with low rate of mortality, acceptable rate of morbidity and have favorable survival rate. Most of postoperative complications can be managed conservatively. There is great variation regarding the reported morbidity and mortality. Mortality and morbidity are in direct relation to the learning curve and the surgical technique employed, as well as the magnitude of the cytoreduction performed.
In conclusion, cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC bear a significant morbidity and acceptable mortality. Most important, however, is the treatment of carefully selected patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis of colorectal cancer in specialized institutions experienced with this treatment modality.Due to the potential morbidity of thecombined procedure. Optimalresults are obtained in patients in whoma macroscopically complete resection canbe performed and are offered perioperativechemotherapy. There are today numerous tertiary treatment centres in every continent around the world offering this specialised treatment.
