Abstract
In this context of increasing fears about climate change, rising energy prices, there is a renewed interest in the link between historic preservation and the environmental conservation movement. Preservatin of our existing buildings is seen as an important way to promote holistic sustainable development in addition to strategic imprtance holistic sustainable development in adiition to strategic importance to the preservation movement. Under the (LEED) program, promotion high performance means encouraging the operational efficiency of buildings and incorporating green materials in construction process and giving less consideration to the vast amounts of energy needed to construct, maintain, and demolish buildings. These factors are important in determining whether a buliding can be labeled ”high performance” or not.
