Abstract Although composite materials have been known since ancient Egyptians, yet the mass of work on such a subject in the literature is limited. One may take a great number of inorganic materials and grind them to a very fine mesh size, and the powder obtained can be used for initiating the polymerization of several monomers, like methyl methacrylate and for grafting polymers to the inorganic materials, like sodium chloride or SiO2. Chapter 1, contains a literature survey on composite materials and their uses. Also, a literature survey on the removal of pollutants using composite and several materials. Chapter 2, includes the experimental techniques used for preparation of methyl methacrylate-activated carbon (MMA-C) composite and for the kinetic study. Solution preparation and the analytical techniques used for the removal study of anions and cations were described in this chapter. Chapter 3, 4 and 5 include the product abstract from this study. |
