Abstract The present study was carried out to elucidate the toxic effect of Cadmium on blood glucose level, biochemical parameter, histopathological picture, Imunohistochemistry, Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 expression besides cadmium residues in Pancreas, Kidney and Liver of rats treated with cadmium. One hundred adult male and female (1:1) Albino rats were assigned into five equal groups each containing 20 rats. Group I kept as control. Group II was given Cdcl2 (2mg/kg B.Wt.) S/C injection daily for successive 10 days (Lei et al., 2007). Group III was given Sp (150 mg/kg B.Wt.) by stomach tube daily for successive 30 days. Group IV was given Cd (2mg/kg B.Wt.) S/C injection and at the same time Sp (150 mg/kg B.Wt.) by stomach tube daily for successive 10 days. Group V was given Cd (2mg/kg B.Wt.) S/C injection daily for successive 10 days then Sp (150 mg/kg B.Wt.) by stomach tube daily for successive 30 days. Before killing of animals by sacrification, blood samples were collected from the retro-orbital venous plexus of rats into clean, dry, sterile and labeled centrifuge tubes with Sodium fluoride as an anticoagulant for detection of fasting blood glucose. By the end of the experiment rats from all groups were fasted for 12 hours before they were sacrified and the blood. |
